According to RMC Sport, Paris Saint-Germain manager Christophe Galtier’s position will be under risk after the 8th March, the second leg of the Champions League last 16 tie against Bayern Munich. Whilst there are currently no discussions on sacking the manager, this could be set to change if results do not improve by that deadline.
The recent string of three consecutive losses suffered by PSG in all competitions, including the latest one against Bayern Munich in the Champions League (0-1), has put Christophe Galtier’s position as coach of the club in jeopardy. Questions being asked of Galtier are now shared by the club’s decision makers in Doha.
Meanwhile RMC Sport also report that the Emir of Qatar is still hoping to secure the services of Zinedine Zidane as manager of PSG. The 1998 World Cup champion was reportedly the first choice following the departure of Mauricio Pochettino in the summer. Although there has been no recent direct contact with Zidane, PSG officials in Doha are considering how best to approach him. This may lead to a more serious offensive in the coming months.
Galtier’s recent performance as coach has been subpar, with the team suffering three consecutive losses (against Marseille in the Coupe de France, against Monaco in Ligue 1, and against Bayern in the Champions League), which hasn’t happened since 2011 when Antoine Kombouaré was in charge of the club, and the PSG project was still in its infancy.
