The European Club Association (ECA), formed in 2008, heralded the new 2023-27 cycle in Geneva over the course of four days. AS Monaco were well represented in the work groups at the event, whilst Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi also spoke at the event.
The Principality club were represented in four out of the eight work groups in Geneva and were therefore one of the most well represented clubs at the event. Sporting Director Thiago Scuro, Director of Youth Development Pascal De Maesschalck, Director of Strategy and Finance Luca Militti and Vice-President Juan Sartori were all present for the event in Switzerland. The latter was recently elected to the Administrative Council at the Association.
The ECA’s primary focus is safeguarding and promoting the interests of European clubs. It is formed of 339 clubs from 55 federations and the work groups play a “vital role” in shaping the ECA’s activities for the next four years.
PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, who is the chairman of the ECA, spoke ahead of the new cycle, which runs until 2027. “The ECA Working Groups meetings in Geneva this week are a key moment in the new 2023-27 ECA Membership Cycle […] At ECA, we’re committed to open, inclusive and democratic decision-making where everyone’s voice is heard, no matter the size of club – and these Working Groups are a great example of that,” he said.
