According to sources contacted by Get French Football News, AS Monaco sporting director Paul Mitchell has held talks with Premier League side Liverpool.
As reported by L’Équipe back in February, Mitchell is set to leave the Principality club at the end of the summer transfer window, despite the club’s attempts to extend his deal. Liverpool will also be without a sporting director come the summer. Despite only being in the job for a year, Julian Ward announced in November that he would be leaving the Merseyside club, a decision that manager Jürgen Klopp later described as “a surprise.”
Liverpool are therefore looking to fill the void created by Ward’s departure, whilst Mitchell, who has reached the end of his mission at Monaco, will be looking for a new job. Get French Football News can now reveal that Mitchell and Liverpool have held talks about the soon-to-be-vacant sporting director role at the club.
