FC Nantes target Fiorentina forward Christian Kouamé

Nantes are pursuing a move for Fiorentina forward Christian Kouamé (25), according to a report today from Foot Mercato. The 25-year-old Ivory Coast international has reportedly already given the green light to join the Ligue 1 side. Kouamé is tied to the Serie A club with a deal set to expire in 2024, but his contract includes an option to extend his stay for a further year. Les Canaris are exploring the possibility of bringing Kouamé in on loan with an option to buy.

Fiorentina have reportedly set their demands for Kouamé’s buy option at €10m, while Nantes have asked their Italian counterparts to lower their demands. Pierre Aristouy’s side are in the market for a rapid forward to compensate for the sale of Ludovic Blas to bitter Brittany rivals Stade Rennais. Last season, Kouamé has logged five goals and eight assists in 43 games played.

Additionally, Aristouy confirmed in his pre-game press conference today that Arsenal winger Marquinhos and PAOK midfielder Douglas Augusto will undergo their medicals with Nantes this Friday.
