In a winter transfer window full of near misses, Turkish midfield prodigy Arda Güler was the latest to come close to join Paris Saint-Germain, only for the deal to be halted by Fenerbahçe, according to Foot Mercato.
The Ligue 1 leaders’ sporting advisor Luís Campos was keen on bringing in the 17-year-old, who is already a full Turkish international, and had met with the player’s family back in the summer.
Having broken into the first-team squad last season, the attacking midfielder scored three goals and registered five assists in fourteen appearances. He has continued to impress this campaign, finding the net twice so far as the team trail rivals Galatasaray by six points at the top of the Süper Lig table. PSG were hoping to bring him in this January, but saw the Istanbul-based side put a swift end to any possibility of a deal, given they are looking to hold on to him for another few seasons at least.
