Former PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimović announces retirement

Former Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimović has tonight announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 41, making the announcement to the San Siro crowd at the end of Milan’s Serie A final-day victory over Hellas Verona.

The outspoken Swede played four seasons in the French capital, winning the Ligue 1 title in each one of them and scoring 156 goals in all competitions for PSG.

He notably found the net 38 times in 31 league games in his final campaign for the club, before moving on to Manchester United. The forward was named Ligue 1 player of the year three times, in each of the seasons where he finished as the top scorer.

After a similarly prolific spell at LA Galaxy, Ibrahimović returned to Europe for a second spell with Milan, notably helping them win the 2021/22 Serie A title – their first since 2010/11, during his first spell with the Rossoneri.
