Francesco Farioli set to be confirmed as Nice’s new manager

According to Le Parisien and RMC Sport34-year-old Italian Francesco Farioli is set to become OGC Nice’s new manager, replacing Didier Digard in the dugout at the Allianz Riviera.

Nice’s search for a new manager has been a protracted one, but a conclusion now looks to have finally been reached. Per RMC Sport’s reporting, Farioli, whose last job was with Turkish top-division side Alanyaspor, is set to take the helm at the club, and could be officially announced as soon as the weekend.

The path to appointing the young manager has been a long one. Digard took over from Lucien Favre in January, and despite a strong run of form during the first months as manager, Les Aiglons tailed off, finishing outside of the European places. FC Lorient’s Régis Le Bris was long thought to be the favourite to take the job, whilst, as reported by Get French Football News, Graham Potter was Dave Brailsford’s first pick.

However, Florent Ghisolfi has played a more prominent role in the managerial search in recent weeks, and his choice is Farioli, who bar a dramatic U-turn, will be named as Nice’s new manager.
