Marcelo Gallardo and Franck Haise among possible candidates to become Nice manager

After a promising start when he first took over at the turn of the year, Nice’s results have faltered of late under rookie manager Didier Digard.

The former midfielder began his first spell as head coach – replacing Lucien Favre – with a three-month unbeaten run, that included away wins over Marseille and Monaco. In the last ten games, though, the only victories came in the two legs of their round of 16 Conference League tie against Sheriff Tiraspol. With the team now out of Europe – after an agonising home defeat to Basel – and barely in the top half of the league table, change could once again be afoot in the dugout.

According to L’Équipe, Sporting Director Florent Ghisolfi has several candidates in mind. These include his former colleague at Lens, Franck Haise, as well as another young Ligue 1 coach in Lorient’s Régis Le Bris. Former River Plate coach Marcelo Gallardo, who has also been linked with the soon-to-be-vacant Paris Saint-Germain job, is also a potential candidate.
