Inter Milan hoping to extend Romelu Lukaku’s loan amidst Saudi interest

Goal and Foot Mercato this morning revealed that Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal were interested in signing Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku (30), however, Inter Milan are hoping for a further loan deal, according to L’Équipe

As revealed by the French media on Tuesday morning, Lukaku met up with Saudi emissaries ahead of a proposed move to Al Hilal. The offer submitted to the Chelsea forward is contested, but neither Foot Mercato, nor Goal believe the offer is above €25m per season. This figure falls below Lukaku’s expectations.

Lukaku is currently tied to Chelsea until 2026, and is the highest earner at the Stamford Bridge club, meaning that the Belgian international, who was on the losing side in Saturday’s Champions League final, is willing to be patient. He is waiting for another big European team to potentially make their move this summer.

That team could be Inter Milan, to whom he was loaned for the 2022/23 season. The Serie A side were happy with his return to form towards the end of the campaign, during which he scored seven goals and registered five assists in the last 10 league matches. Inter are therefore watching the situation closely, and a meeting between the club and Chelsea is set to take place in the coming days, during which another loan will be discussed.
