According to French media Sports Zone, John Terry looks set to become the sporting director of Saudi Pro League side Al-Shabab.
John Terry is currently working at the Chelsea academy after leaving his role as assistant manager of Leicester City in the summer. It had been thought that former Chelsea defender Terry would take the managerial position at the Saudi side, however, Sports Zone are reporting that the Englishman will instead become the club’s sporting director. Terry rejected the chance to manage Al-Shabab but is interested in becoming the sporting director, notably because of the short-term contract offered by the Gulf State club.
Al-Shabab have been looking to bring in a “charismatic” figure, similar to Steven Gerrard, who is currently managing Al-Ettifaq. Should Terry take the role, as is being reported, it would be his first job as a sporting director having previously held positions as an assistant manager at Aston Villa, and more recently Leicester City.
