Joris Chotard to stay at Montpellier this summer

According to a report this afternoon from L’Équipe, Joris Chotard is expected to stay with Montpellier this summer unless the club receive an irrefutable offer. After discussions between the midfielder and the Montpellier management, both parties have agreed that Chotard will stay in Southern France unless an exceptional offer arrives for his services.

Ahead of Chotard’s call-up to the the French squad for the upcoming U21 European Championships, it was important for his Montpellier future to be clarified. The report also mentions there is budding interest in the French youth international but it appears any move away from MHSC will now have to be delayed until next summer.

Chotard’s contract with Montpellier is currently set to last until 2025. With no departure on the cards for the defensive midfielder this year, La Paillade may be forced to sell Chotard next summer to avoid losing the 21-year-old on a free transfer in the summer of 2025.
