French international and Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot (27) was pleased with his side’s qualification for the Europa League last 16 round over Nantes. The former PSG man was a vital cog in Juventus’ formation yesterday. He brilliantly set up Ángel Di María in the build-up leading to the second goal, with Nantes centre-back Nicolas Pallois sent off for a handball over the goal-line. “We got into the game well and the red card made our task easier. Then we controlled the game“, said Rabiot in the mixed zone that Get French Football News attended.

"The red card helped us get a hold on the game. We showed that the Europa League is an important goal for us. I spoke to Didier Deschamps. He congratulated me and told me not to injure myself!" pic.twitter.com/M4YzIqW3As
The 2022 World Cup runner-up with France claimed that Juventus had a point to prove over Nantes after their shock home draw last week in the first leg. Rabiot assessed that his side did not show what they could do at the Allianz Stadium. “We knew that Nantes were strong on the counter-attack and we worked on that. We were a bit annoyed.” However, Rabiot said he wasn’t surprised by the raucous atmosphere at La Beaujoire and he wished Les Canaris well on their domestic duties in Ligue 1. The French international also revealed he spoke to France’s National team boss Didier Deschamps, who was in attendance at La Beaujoire as a former Nantes and Juventus player. “He congratulated me and told me not to get injured.” Rabiot is expected to be called up by Les Bleus’ manager next month as France take on Netherlands and Ireland for the Euro 2024 qualifying rounds.
