Karim Benzema will join Al-Ittihad on Monday

According to RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Karim Benzema will join the Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad this Monday. Real Madrid had announced over the weekend that the former French international would leave Los Blancos following a 14-year spell with the club.  

Benzema will become the second Ballon d’Or winner to switch Europe for Saudi Arabia, with Cristiano Ronaldo joining Al Nassr following his controversial departure from Manchester United last season. The former Olympique Lyonnais forward is expected to sign a contract with a yearly salary worth a reported €200m. 

Benzema has won virtually every possible title on the Spanish and Continental stages during his time with Real Madrid. Including 5 Champions Leagues and 4 La Liga titles, the 35-year-old striker has lfited 25 trophies in total and made a total of 647 appearances in the famous white shirt across all competitions. The Frenchman will now embark on a new chapter in his career with Al-Ittihad as part of the Kingdom’s investment into its domestic football league.
