Kheira Hamraoui assault: Two suspects released from custody

According to RMC sport, two suspects in the investigation of the assault on Paris Saint-Germain player Kheira Hamraoui have been released from custody, according to sources close to the case. The decision was made by a judge of liberties and detention (JLD) and comes one week after the examining magistrate heard testimony from all parties involved in the case, including Hamraoui’s former teammate at PSG, Aminata Diallo, who is facing charges of aggravated violence and criminal association.

One of the suspects released had admitted to striking Hamraoui during the assault, while the other is suspected of keeping Diallo at bay during the attack. Diallo, who several other suspects have named as the mastermind behind the assault, was also briefly held in custody after her arrest, but denies any involvement in the attack.

“I am pleased with the release of this young man. It is a courageous decision that is consistent with his minimal involvement in this highly publicised case,” said the defence attorney for one of the suspects, Sarah Mauger-Poliak. Diallo returned from Spain to testify, as she is determined to prove her innocence, according to one of her lawyers, Me Romain Ruiz.
