OGC Nice midfielder Khéphren Thuram (22) has responded to rumours about his future at the club, saying that he is happy with Les Aiglons and that he “wants to grow” with them.
L’Équipe have reported widespread interest in Thuram, who made his debut for the France national team this year. Nice rate him at €60m amidst reported interest from Germany and England, although Le Gym remain determined to keep hold of one of their star assets.
Prior to an injury suffered a fortnight ago, which has ruled Thuram out until the end of the season, the AS Monaco academy product hadn’t missed a match all season. The Frenchman was named in the Ligue 1 Team of the Season during Sunday night’s UNFP awards in Paris, and he used the opportunity to dampen speculation surrounding an imminent departure from Nice.
“I want to progress, be on the pitch, have fun. For now, I’m at Nice, and that’s going very well, I really like the club, so I still see myself at Nice. I am happy at Nice. There are rumours, I hear them, but I’m happy at Nice and I hope to grow with this club,” said Thuram in an interview transcribed by L’Équipe. Whilst Thuram may be happy at Nice, the club won’t be able to offer him European football next season.
