Kylian Mbappé has been left out of the Paris Saint-Germain squad that will travel for a pre-season tour of Japan, according to L’Équipe tonight.
The development is the latest twist in the clash between the France captain and his club, following president Nasser Al-Khelaifi’s ultimatum set earlier this month – either the 24-year-old extends his contract past the end of next season, or he will be sold this summer.
According to L’Équipe, PSG also believe that Mbappé has an agreement in place with Real Madrid to join them at the end of his contract. The player himself has in any case continued to insist that he has no intention of activating the one-year extension clause in the contract he signed last summer.
Internally, some at the club believe that Mbappé could potentially be sidelined until the end of the transfer window. Several clubs have already enquired about the situation, although there is no indication as of yet regarding Mbappé’s stance on his future club.
