RC Lens goalkeeper Brice Samba has expressed his hope of being included in the next French national team squad, which is set to be announced on 16th March by manager Didier Deschamps.
In an interview with L’Équipe, Samba was asked about his thoughts on the upcoming squad announcement and whether he hoped to be included. He replied, “Of course. I’ve said it before. I’ll be watching it closely. I hope to be there. I want to give my all every weekend. It would be a pleasure, a dream to be one of the three goalkeepers.”
However, with the likes of Alban Lafont and Mike Maignan also vying for a place in the squad, competition for the goalkeeper position is tough – yet an opening has appeared after the international retirement of Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris following the 2022 World Cup.
Samba remains optimistic and is determined to continue giving his best for Lens in the hope of catching Deschamps’ eye. “I just need to keep working hard, keep improving and keep helping my team. Hopefully, my performances will speak for themselves,” he said.
