Lens reject RB Leipzig’s approach for Loïs Openda

Foot Mercato are reporting that RC Lens have rejected Red Bull Leipzig’s approach for Loïs Openda (23) due to their €30m bid being below their valuation of the player.

Openda joined Lens from the Belgian first division at the beginning of the season and scored an impressive 21 goals in his debut campaign in Ligue 1. That form secured a second-place finish, meaning that Le Sang et Or will compete in the Champions League next season.

However, there are doubts as to whether will still be at the club when the group stages of Europe’s most prestigious tournament begin. Bild first reported that the Belgian forward had agreed terms with RB Leipzig, a piece of information that was later confirmed by Sacha Tavolieri.

The report added that the fee being negotiated was around €30m, however, Foot Mercato have now reported that Lens have rejected the Bundesliga club’s offer. Le Sang et Or believe that the figure doesn’t represent the value of the Belgian international that was so influential in such a successful Ligue 1 campaign.
