Marco Verratti is no stranger to red cards. However, this time around it will cost him more than a one-match suspension. After reviewing his 59th-minute sending off against Reims the LFP Disciplinary Committee has decided that the Italian midfielder will be suspended for three matches, but one suspended.
Already absent against Montpellier he will miss also miss out on PSG’s home match against Toulouse this Saturday. Luckily PSG’s number 6 will be available to face Marseille in the round of 16 of the Coupe de France. With the injury to Kylian Mbappé the Paris-based club will need everyone at their best to compete across the three competitions during his absence.
The capital city club did gain some breathing room after Lens dropped points against Nice, but are still within reach. With injuries, departures, and suspensions the club finds themselves in a difficult position in terms of roster depth. Paris have finally taken a chance on their youth, but they will need those young talents to grow up very quickly if they are going to make it through the season and go far in the Champions League.
