Lille coach Paulo Fonseca will miss the Northern Derby after LFP suspension

On Wednesday, the LFP Disciplinary Committee announced that Paulo Fonseca has been suspended for one match following his altercation with Brest coach, Eric Roy. The issue stems from an altercation that occurred during their match, the Portuguese coach had expressed his displeasure with the excessive use of time wasting.

The Lille manager was eventually sent off with a red card leading to disciplinary action. As the sanction is effective immediately, Fonseca will miss the upcoming Northern Derby against Lens on Saturday. His assistant, Tiago Leal, will take over the coaching duties in his absence. Meanwhile, Eric Roy was not excluded by referee Pierre Gaillouste and did not receive any disciplinary action.

The suspension applies to all official functions, including sitting on the bench and accessing the referees’ locker room leaving him as a spectator for the upcoming match.
