Lille OSC right-back Bafodé Diakité (22) has been ruled out for at least a month after suffering a hamstring injury during last weekend’s 2-1 victory against Stade Brestois, the club has confirmed.
Diakité had to be substituted just after the hour mark during the victory, and following further tests on the injury, it has been revealed that he will be absent until at least the beginning of April. A press release from Les Dogues said that his estimated period of unavailability will be around four weeks.
Paulo Fonseca is therefore left with a selection headache ahead of the derby against local rivals RC Lens on Saturday. At right-back, he is without Diakité, as well as Ismaily. José Fonte could be utilised as a makeshift right-back with Leny Yoro playing centrally, or the Portuguese manager could switch to a back three and put the versatile Timothy Weah at right-wing-back. Either way, the options are plentiful ahead of a match of great importance for Les Dogues.
