Lionel Messi was interviewed by the Argentine sports daily Olé and was asked about his potential participation in the 2026 World Cup. During the interview, Messi was also asked about his relationship with Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappé, who was on the opposing team during the 2022 World Cup final.
Messi stated that he and Mbappé had spoken about the game and the festivities, but that was it. He added that he doesn’t have any issues with Mbappé and that their relationship is good, “Yes, we talked about the game, the festivities, how people had experienced it in Argentina, when I was on holiday,” he explained “nothing more, but it’s going well, really well with him.”
Messi also spoke about the experience of losing a World Cup final “I was on the other side too, I lost a final (in 2014 against Germany) too and I didn’t want to hear anything about it afterwards, about what happened,” explaining that it is the reason why he does not want to bring it up too much with his French teammate.
“But the truth is that I have no problem with Kylian, quite the opposite,” said Messi to finish off the interview – PSG should be reassured.
