Having returned to the French capital earlier in the week, World Cup winner Lionel Messi made his full return to Paris Saint-Germain today, and was welcomed with a guard of honour by his teammates and the league leaders’ staff after his exploits with Argentina.
The forward had been granted ten days off after leading the Albiceleste to their third title, and was handed a trophy engraved with a golden star by PSG to celebrate their latest World Cup winner. Messi will be looking to carry on his impressive club form into 2023, having scored 12 and assisted 14 in all competitions so far.
The whole squad were at the Camp des Loges today ahead of the Coupe de France match against Châteauroux on Friday, in which Lionel Messi will, in theory, not be involved. The team had been given a day’s rest yesterday following the trip up north to face Lens on Sunday night.
