Foot Mercato are reporting that Liverpool are interested in Aston Villa midfielder Boubacar Kamara (23). However, a deal may be difficult given Aston Villa’s unwillingness to sell.
Liverpool’s midfield has been plundered this summer. Fabinho and Jordan Henderson have both departed for Saudi Arabia, whilst James Milner has departed for Brighton and Hove Albion. The Merseyside club have therefore been forced into the market, and have been linked with many names. Khéphren Thuram and Manu Koné have been linked with a move throughout the summer. Since Fabinho’s departure in particular, Jürgen Klopp has been looking to add a holding midfielder. Top targets Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia have both slipped through their fingers and joined Chelsea.
As a result, Liverpool have turned their attention to Kamara, who convinced in his first season in the Premier League. The Frenchman arrived on a free transfer from Olympique de Marseille last summer and went on to make 23 starts for the club, despite an injury-hit campaign at Villa Park.
His performances have caught the attention of Liverpool, who are monitoring Kamara. However, Aston Villa have no intention of selling. A deal will be difficult, but not impossible, according to Foot Mercato.
