Lorient target Southampton’s Moussa Djenepo

FC Lorient are considering a move for out-of-favour Malian international Southampton winger Moussa Djenepo (24), Foot Mercato are reporting. Les Merlus are in the market for a winger following Dango Ouattara’s €27m move to Bournemouth. The Burkina Faso international has signed a five-and-a-half-year deal with the Cherries. Ligue 1 seventh-placed outfit are also expected to part ways with Nigerian Terem Moffi with Nice offering a package worth €20m for the French topflight second best goalscorer with twelve strikes.

Lorient won’t lack the financial means to rejuvenate their squad. In order to replace the departing Ouattara, with the Bretons pursuing a move for soon-to-be out of contract Djenepo. The Malian has only played 11 Premier League games with the bottom-placed Saints. Djenepo scored a long-range curler during Southampton’s shock win against Manchester City in the latest Carabao Cup round and was named man of the match. The player is reportedly very popular amid Lorient’s scouting department.

Lorient are also considering a loan move for Olympique Lyonnais’ attacking midfielder Romain Faivre (24) and are keeping an eye on Lokomotiv Moscow French U21 international striker Wilson Isidor (22). Foot Mercato add that Faivre is now prioritising a return to Brittany with the Régis Le Bris-led side.
