Lucas Hernandez wants PSG move with club ‘increasingly optimistic’ over deal

According to Fabrice Hawkins from RMC Sport, Paris Saint-Germain are increasingly optimistic about the possibility of signing Bayern Munich left-back Lucas Hernandez (27). The player reportedly does not want to extend his contract at Bayern and wishes to join PSG.

The French defender, who is currently recovering from a cruciate ligament rupture and has not played since the first match of the 2022 World Cup against Australia, has informed his club that he does not intend to extend his contract, which currently runs until 2024.

Despite Bayern Munich offering Lucas Hernandez a contract extension until 2027, the left-back has reportedly declined the proposal. Earlier this spring, there were positive signs that an agreement was close, and the German press even reported that a contract extension was on the horizon. However, the situation has  since changed, and Hernandez has reportedly expressed his desire to move on from Bayern Munich.

PSG see the World Cup champion as a potential new addition to their squad, although they are aware that Bayern Munich may not easily let go of the player, especially considering the ongoing restructuring at the German club following the departures of Oliver Kahn and sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic. He reportedly fits the mental profile that the club wants to pivot to in the future.
