Luis Enrique unhappy with hat-trick hero Kylian Mbappé

Kylian Mbappé (24) netted a hat-trick as Paris Saint-Germain beat Stade de Reims 3-0 on Saturday night, however, his manager, Luis Enrique wasn’t happy with the Frenchman’s performance.

Reims were in the ascendancy for large parts of the fixture but were denied by an impressive Gianluigi Donnarumma. At the other end, Mbappé was at his clinical best. His hat-trick means he is now on 13 Ligue 1 goals in 11 games so far this season. He is now six goals clear in the race for the Golden Boot. His closest competitor, Montpellier HSC’s Akor Adams, has six goals.

The Frenchman now has 29 goals over the calendar year, three short of breaking his previous record of 32, which he set last year.

Whilst Mbappé is looking in full flow after a tumultuous summer, Luis Enrique struck a surprisingly critical tone post-match. “I’m not really happy with Kylian today. I have nothing to say about the goals but he can help the team more in different ways. I’m going to talk to him about it first. I’ll never tell you what it’s about, it’s private,” the Spaniard told Prime Video Sport
