Legendary PSG coach Luis Fernandez, who lead Les Parisiens to their only European trophy with the Cup Winners’ Cup in 1996, gave his opinion to L’Equipe towards the ongoing situation at PSG. First team manager Christophe Galtier and football advisor Luis Campos are under scrutiny following an underwhelming season. PSG have crashed out of the Champions League in the RO16 stage and are also out of the Coupe de France after being eliminated by arch-rivals Marseille. PSG are still the league leaders, but they only have a 7-point lead on Les Phocéens.
According to Fernandez, the position of Campos as a part-time football advisor for PSG raises questions. “What’s his place ? Those heated words exchanged between Neymar, Marquinhos and Campos at Monaco should not take place in the locker room, or next to it, but in his office. Then, he gets on the touchline to give orders. That’s not where he belongs.”

According to Fernandez, the Portuguese consultant should focus solely on PSG, as he is also involved with Celta Vigo’s transfer activity. “Campos is perhaps too intrusive. Have him and Galtier taken the measure of what it is to train and lead PSG ?
The key is the Campos-Galtier relationship. Today, something is not working.” Fernandez adds that Galtier’s preferred tactical formation is a 4-4-2, but the former Lille manager wanted to field three players at the back to allow Lionel Messi (35), Kylian Mbappé (24) and Neymar (31) to play together. “It’s a jigsaw he hasn’t quite figured out yet. He is looking for the right formula but has not found it yet.”
