Lyon owner John Textor attends training before Grenoble Coupe de France quarter-final

According to a report by L’Équipe, John Textor, the owner of Olympique Lyonnais, was present at the team’s training center in Décines on Monday afternoon. The American businessman is in Europe for a few days and has planned to attend Lyon’s Coupe de France quarterfinal match against Grenoble on Tuesday evening.

Textor was expected to arrive for the game on Tuesday, but he arrived early to attend the training session on Monday afternoon, where he watched Laurent Blanc take charge of the session from the sidelines. He is set to have several meetings with club executives on both Monday and Tuesday.

The owner of Les Gones has been in Belgium since the weekend, where he watched his other club, Molenbeek (D2), secure a 3-1 victory against Lierse in the Belgian Jupilar League.

As the Coupe de France quarterfinal approaches, Textor’s visit also signals the importance of a cup-run for Lyon with the possibility of European football via a league finish looking more and more unlikely. The team will be looking to secure a victory against Grenoble in front of their owner and move one step closer to lifting the trophy and a shortcut to European competition next season.
