Lyon’s dressing room pushing for Bruno Genesio’s return

According to Foot Mercatothe Olympique Lyonnais dressing room is pushing for Bruno Genesio’s return to the club following the departure of Fabio Grosso.

Groso’s reign as Lyon manager was the shortest in the club’s history. Having arrived in mid-September as a replacement for Laurent Blanc, the Italian lasted just seven games before being shown the door. He leaves the club rock-bottom of Ligue 1 with just one win all season.

Whilst Pierre Sage will take charge on an interim basis, the search for Grosso’s successor is now underway. According to RMC Sport, Genesio, Igor Tudro and Jorge Sampaoli are among the candidates to take the post. Foot Mercato have revealed that Genesio has kept in contact with Corentin Tolisso and Alexandre Lacazette, two players who featured prominently under the French manager during his first stint at the club and the Lyon dressing room are now pushing for Genesio’s return.

However, it will ultimately be the club’s incoming sporting director David Friio who will make the final call with Antoine Kombouaré and Claudio Caçapa also linked with the vacant role.
