Chelsea loanee Malang Sarr (24) will be once again absent for AS Monaco when they come up against RC Lens on Saturday, Philippe Clement confirmed.
Sarr hasn’t featured for Monaco since 12th March. With Guillermo Maripán’s injury, the OGC Nice academy product was relegated to the bench against Ajaccio, and illness and injury have since prevented him from making the matchday squad.
The Chelsea loanee joined Monaco at the start of the season on loan with an obligation to make the deal permanent in the case of certain conditions being met. However, it currently looks unlikely that he will remain at the Stade Louis II beyond the end of the season.
Clement told Get French Football News’ Luke Entwistle, that Sarr was “still hurting a bit” and therefore won’t feature against Lens on Saturday evening. Breel Embolo also remains absent, with no return date given. Ruben Aguilar, however, returned to training yesterday and could make the squad.
Gelson Martins, who was recently left out of the squad for personal reasons, trained with the first team throughout the week.
