Manu Koné is now very unlikely to join Liverpool this summer, according to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg. Previous reports have linked the Reds with a move for the French U21 international, but it now appears that a move to Anfield is off the table for the this summer.
Koné nevertheless sits on Liverpool’s shortlist, due to his what Plettenberg has d escribedas his “interesting profile“. However, as things stand, he is not considered a prime transfer target for the Reds. Instead, Koné’s international teammate Khéphren Thuram is a key target for Liverpool and the parties are moving closer to agreeing personal terms, according to sources contacted by Get French Football News.
Despite a move to Liverpool looking unlikely this summer, Borussia Mönchengladbach are expecting to sell the Frenchman and will command a fee worth more than €30m to allow the 22-year-old to leave. At present though, Die Fohlen are yet to receive any concrete offers for Koné.
