Manuel Ugarte nearing €60m PSG move

L’Équipe are reporting that Paris Saint-Germain are closing in on the signing of Sporting midfielder Manuel Ugarte (22).

Despite signing four midfielders (Vitinha, Fabián Ruiz, Renato Sanches, Carlos Soler) last summer, Luís Campos is still looking to strengthen this area of the pitch. He has identified compatriot Ugarte as a key target, and negotiations are now at a very advanced stage. Whilst there is interest from English clubs, it is now expected that he will sign with Les Parisiens, especially since Ugarte’s preferred destination, Liverpool, is now potentially off the table with the Merseyside club closing in on Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister.

Whilst L’Équipe report that PSG will pay the €60m release clause in the player’s contract, Sports Zone have reported that the reigning Ligue 1 champions are negotiating a lower fee. Antero Henrique is also pushing for PSG to sign Gonçalo Inacío (21). However, Les Parisiens are prioritising the signings of Lucas Hernandez and Evan Ndicka. The former has reached an agreement with PSG, according to L’Équipe.
