Marcus Thuram wants to run down contract amid Chelsea interest

Téléfoot journalist Saber Desfarges has explained on this week’s show that Marcus Thuram does not intend to renew his contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach, with his current deal expiring at the end of the season.

The forward, who impressed with France at the World Cup – notably with his game-changing cameo in the final – is the subject of interest from Chelsea. The 25-year-old’s preference would be to leave the Bundesliga club on a free this summer, although a move to a new country is now being considered for this month.

Aside from his performances in Qatar, the former Guingamp man has enjoyed a resurgence this season after being moved into a central attacking role, which has seen him net ten goals in league action. The tally matches already matches that of his first campaign on the other side of the Rhine, with subsequent years having seen his goalscoring numbers tail off at 8 and 3 respectively.
