Martin Terrier (26), who has been absent for nine months with a serious knee injury, has been included in Stade Rennais’ UEFA Europa League squad to face Villareal.
Manager Bruno Genesio said that the Frenchman could have been included in the squad to face local rivals FC Nantes in Sunday’s Breton derby, and whilst he ultimately missed out through illness, he has now been included in the group to face Villareal.
His return is welcome for Rennes. He is a talismanic figure within the squad, however, he hasn’t featured since January. He suffered an ACL injury against OGC Nice on 2nd January, which required surgery. However, there is now light at the end of the tunnel for Terrier. It is unclear whether he will face Villareal in matchday two of the Europa League, but his inclusion does certainly increase his prospects of playing a slightly more prominent role against Paris Saint-Germain at the weekend.
