United States football players Megan Rapinoe and Alex Morgan have given their backing to Wendie Renard and teammates Marie-Antoinette Katoto and Kadidiatou Diani as well as Perle Morroni for withdrawing from France’s national team, as per L’Equipe.
After France’s captain Renard announced on Friday that she would be withdrawing from Les Bleues, the international’s teammates Katoto and Diani as well as Morroni have also released statements of their own indicating that they too will step back from France’s future squads.
All of them have denounced the gulf between the current management of Les Bleues, their values, and the means allocated to meet the standards required of the highest level. The matter is expected to be adrdessed during this Tuesday’s French FA (FFF) board meeting.
2019 Ballon d’Or winner Rapinoe has taken to Instagram to support Renard, her former Lyon teammate, with a post that reads: “WITH YOU skipper. FFF, what are you doing?” Meanwhile, Morgan, who also played for Lyon with Renard, says that “You know it’s serious when the most capped player/skipper can’t support or play for the FFF. My heart bleeds for Wendie Renard, Marie-Antoinette Katoto, Kadidiatou Diani and her teammates.”
