Mohamed Salah will explore his options this summer

Our colleagues at Foot Mercato report that Egyptian international winger Mohamed Salah has decided to explore his options this summer transfer window and has a particular preference for a move to Spain should he leave Premier League side Liverpool.

After 6 years with the Merseyside outfit and having won both the Champions League and Premier League, the 30-year-old is being told by individuals around him that it may be now or never to make a final move.

Arriving in 2017 at Liverpool for €39m following two successful campaigns with AS Roma, Salah has established himself in Liverpool folklore, scoring 178 goals in 293 matches and winning the Champions’ League and Premier League in 2019 and 2020 respectively.

Salah this season has 22 goals and 11 assists in 39 matches so far this season, but struggling Liverpool find themselves 6th in the Premier League table and a massive 24 points behind league leaders Arsenal.

Salah, who is contracted until June 2025, is asking questions about his future. He is the final survivor of the Salah-Mané-Firmino troika, with the Brazilian having been announced in the last 10 days as leaving the club on a free transfer when his contract expires in June.

Salah is keen to join another major European club this summer to achieve a final chapter in his career. Spain is his focus in terms of destination – he knows that the list of clubs that could entice him is not long…
