Monaco and Nice interested in Montpellier’s Elye Wahi

RMC Sport are reporting that OGC Nice and AS Monaco are interested in Montpellier forward Elye Wahi (20), although Les Héraultais are not interested in selling the player this winter.

It has been clear since the beginning of the window that Les Aiglons are in the market for a striker. The club are looking to offload Andy Delort, with FC Nantes his likely destination, and whilst that deal is almost completed, Nice want to ensure another forward comes through the door first.

Terem Moffi is a top priority for the club, and RMC Sport are reporting that Nice have upped their offer for the FC Lorient player. However, the club are also interested in Wahi, who has enjoyed a great season thus far, despite the clubs troubles. In 18 appearances, he has scored seven goals, making him one of the most prolific U21 players.

However, Nice may come up against tough competition, if they decide to pursue a deal for Wahi. Riviera rivals Monaco are also interested, as well as numerous unnamed English and German clubs. Montpellier are not open to the idea of selling Wahi this winter, and they would only be tempted to part with the player in the case of a €30m offer, which would be a record transfer fee for the club.
