L’Équipe are reporting that AS Monaco have held positive contract extension talks with Aleksandr Golovin (26), with both parties keen to continue their collaboration.
Golovin joined Les Monégasques off the back of an impressive showing at the 2018 World Cup in Russia. The Ligue 1 side beat strong competition from many European clubs, including Chelsea, to sign the attacking midfielder for a reported €30m. Golovin is enjoying arguably his best season in the Rouge et Blanc of Monaco. In 30 appearances in all competitions, he has four goals and seven assists.
However, the Russian international’s contract expires at the end of next season, and Les Monégasques are therefore keen to tie him down to a new deal. L‘Équipe are now reporting that discussions are advancing positively. Talks between the two parties have been initiated and there is a common desire to continue their collaboration together.
Sources contacted by Get French Football News can confirm L’Équipe’s report. Monaco’s desire to extend the contract is replicated on Golovin’s side, meaning that there is a positive momentum towards the deal. No issues have yet been encountered in discussions.
