AS Monaco centre-back Axel Disasi (25) is set to be called up by Didier Deschamps following William Saliba’s (21) injury, according to both RMC Sport and L’Équipe.
The Arsenal centre-back will be out for “several weeks,” according to L’Équipe, due to a back injury sustained on Thursday night during Arsenal’s Europa League 2nd leg knockout clash with Sporting Portugal.
Disasi was part of France’s squad that went all the way to the final against Argentina. Initially, Disasi was not part of Deschamps’ plans for Qatar, but the Monaco centre-back got the nod following Paris Saint-Germain’s Presnel Kimpembe’s withdrawal from the squad. He went on to play three games in Qatar, including a small part in the final. Disasi featured in today’s game against AC Ajaccio, which Les Monégasques won 2-0.
Disasi will arrive at Clairefontaine, France’s training ground, on Monday. Les Bleus will host The Netherlands on Friday at the Stade de France and travel to Ireland three days later to kick off their campaign to qualify for the Germany-hosted Euro 2024.
