National : Third tier FC Rouen sanctioned with five point deduction

Third tier National side FC Rouen 1899 yesterday announced that French football’s financial watchdog, the DNCG, has slapped the club with a five point deduction. An official club communiqué confirmed that they have been hit with the points deduction as well as transfer ban.

According to Paris-Normandie, the sanction is a result of a “significant discrepancy between the amount of outstanding debts presented to the French football financial watchdog in June (€470,000) and the amount presented today (€723,000)”

In a tight league which features six relegation spots this season, FCR will drop to 11th place in the league after a barnstorming start to the season which saw Les Diables Rouges fighting at the top of the table before lingering around 5th ahead of the deduction.

The Normand club said the recognised the decision and say that they “reserve the right to lodge an appeal in order to put forward its arguments,” pending official notification from the French football association.
