Neymar answers Kylian Mbappé’s call for rest with late-night poker

Just one day after Kylian Mbappé’s call to action PSG’s loss to Bayern in the Champions League, Neymar is facing criticism for not heeding his teammate’s warning. According to RMC, the Brazilian playmaker was spotted making two appearances at a poker tournament at the Hyatt Regency in Paris. One of the trips being later that evening around 22h30 (10:30pm).

Supporters may feel that their number 10 may not be priotising the quest for Champions League glory. This comes after France’s star striker asked his teammates to prepare for the second leg saying, “All our players are in good health. That everyone eats well, sleeps well”.

Neymar is no stranger to criticism for his activities outside of football, but at this stage of his career, and during a pivotal part of the season, it may be a sign of concern that he is reportedly having excessive parties and playing late-night poker after losing 3 matches in a row.

Presnel Kimpembe and Kylian Mbappé have promised the capital club’s supporters to give a full effort to right the ship. The 24-year-old World Cup winner promised, “We’re going to work, get everyone back and get there to qualify“.

Therein lies the problem. If Paris’ €222m transfer is spending his off-time in this manner fans may ask whether he is really giving his club his full effort.

PSG play Bayern in the second leg in Germany on March 8. If the Ligue 1 club can not make a comeback many will call for major changes in the city of lights.
