Speaking to Le Parisien, the entourage of Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kanté (32) have said that the player will likely remain at the club, despite advances from Arsenal.
Kanté has just returned from a long-term injury that has seen him ruled out for much of the campaign. The French international has quickly re-established himself as a starter at the London club, however, his long-term future remains in doubt. Kanté’s contract expires at the end of the season, and he is yet to strike a deal with the Blues, despite his desire to remain in London.
The player’s entourage have now revealed that Kanté may have been interested in reuniting with former manager Antonio Conte, but the Italian was recently sacked by Tottenham Hotspur, whilst Arsenal were also a possibility. “N’Golo wants to continue his career in London, the place he’s used to. He liked working with Antonio Conte, but he was fired by Tottenham, Arsenal also enquired. I think he’ll extend his contract at Chelsea before perhaps leaving for the Gulf in two or three years,” said a member of Kanté’s entourage.
Foot Mercato reported in February that Kanté was set to sign a contract extension until 2027, but his entourage, by saying he may leave for the Gulf (perhaps Saudi Arabia or Qatar) in “two or three years” suggests a departure as early as 2025.
