Nice and Lorient have finally struck a deal for the transfer of Ligue 1’s second-best goalscorer this season in Terem Moffi (23), according to a report from Foot Mercato. The sought-after free-scoring forward will join the resurgent tenth-placed Ligue 1 side. Moffi had attracted interest from the Premier League with West Ham United and Southampton tracking the Nigerian international, and Olympique de Marseille came close to signing the player having agreed a player-plus-cash deal with Lorient – however, the player’s desire has always been for a move to Ineos-owned Nice, and Moffi, therefore, rejected the move.
Les Aiglons have submitted a seventh offer to their Brittany counterparts estimated at €30m including bonuses. All points to the fact there won’t be an eighth bid as Moffi is currently undergoing his medical, according to TF1 journalist Saber Desfarges. The player was a no-show at Lorient’s training ground this morning, and the longest saga of the January transfer window appears all but ended now.
