Nice in talks with Aaron Ramsey over long-term contract extension

Having been plagued with injuries during his time at Juventus, Wales captain Aaron Ramsey now appears to be enjoying a minor career renaissance at Nice, where he arrived last summer and has imposed himself as a fixture for the European spot challengers.

The former Arsenal man has 28 appearances across the campaign, chipping in with a goal and two assists as Les Aiglons remain unbeaten since January under new rookie manager Didier Digard, following the departure of Lucien Favre.

According to L’Équipe, Ramsey has already reached the required number of appearances for an automatic one-year extension to be triggered. However, the club management are looking to hold on to the veteran for longer than that – and according to the outlet, talks are underway for a multi-year extension, one that would potentially see his family move over from Wales as well as he settles in on the Côte d’Azur. As a result, the 32-year-old, who is seen as one of the leaders of the team on the pitch, is now closing in on a new contract, which is set to keep him at the club for at least another two years.
