Foot Mercato are reporting that Nottingham Forest and Fulham are pushing to sign Chelsea centre-back Malang Sarr (24), who could leave Stamford Bridge on a free transfer.
Sarr arrived at Chelsea on a free transfer from OGC Nice in the summer of 2020, however, he has failed to establish himself in the first-team. He spent last season on loan at AS Monaco, where once again, he found first-team opportunities limited. He failed to dislodge Benoît Badiashile during the first part of the season, and after his compatriot’s big-money move to Chelsea, a mixture of poor form and injury continued to limit his chances. As a result, Les Monégasques didn’t trigger the purchase option included in the deal.
Nottingham Forest and Fulham are now looking to sign Sarr. The former France youth international doesn’t feature in Chelsea’s plans, as evidenced by Mauricio Pochettino’s response when asked about Sarr’s future. The Chelsea manager appeared to not know who Sarr was. The former Nice centre-back could therefore depart on a free. As well as Nottingham Forest and Fulham, “other clubs” are in the race, according to Foot Mercato.
