RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins is reporting that Nottingham Forest have made an unsuccessful attempt to sign AS Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana (24).
Nottingham Forest ensured survival in their first year back in the Premier League. This summer, the club are more interested in recruiting quality, rather than quantity, and have made an approach for Fofana. The English club were ready to submit a formal offer to Monaco for Fofana, but the player himself has closed the door on the deal.
The France international midfielder has offers from elsewhere, according to Hawkins. West Ham United have reportedly been interested in Fofana throughout the summer, and are still in the race, according to the French journalist.
Fofana will be allowed to leave Monaco this summer, should a reasonable offer arrive. Since his arrival from RC Strasbourg Alsace in the summer of 2018, Fofana has gone on to make 140 appearances for Les Monégasuqes.
