Auxerre have announced the loan signing, without a permanent option, of Romanian international goalkeeper Ionuț Radu (25). The Yonne outfit, a relegation-battling nineteenth-placed Ligue 1 side, were looking for a shot-stopper following the surprise exit of Benoît Costil (35). Costil is expected to become Lille’s second goalkeeper as Léo Jardim will leave Les Dogues to join Brazilian side Vasco de Gama. With Costil between the sticks, the newly-promoted side conceded 41 goals in only 19 games.
Radu started nine games in Italy this season with Cremonese as an Inter Milan loanee, but he picked up an elbow injury in October which has kept him out of action since. The 25-year old has played five games for Inter Milan, rising as a youth player to feature last season for the Nerazzurri. Auxerre’s new number one goalkeeper is expected to feature this Sunday for an important game against relegation battlers Montpellier for Ligue 1 gameweek 20.
