Official | Geoffrey Kondogbia joins Marseille

Central African Republic international Geoffrey Kondogbia (30) has officially joined Olympique de Marseille from Atlético Madrid, the club has announced. The RC Lens youth product successfully passed his medical and completed his reported €8m move from the Colchoneros. Kondogbia has put pen to paper over a four-year deal with Les Phocéens, tying him to the club until 2027. Kondogbia had only a year left on his contract with Atlético de Madrid and reportedly pushed for his move to Marseille to materialise.

Kondogbia will reunite with Marcelino in the Velodrome dugout. The Spaniard coached Kondogbia at Valencia for two seasons, between 2017 and 2019, winning the 2019 Copa del Rey in the process. Kondogbia then signed for Atlético de Madrid with whom he was crowned La Liga champions in 2021. The former Inter midfielder is the first signing of the Marcelino era at Marseille, and will face strong competition in the midfield with Matteo Guendouzi, Jordan Veretout and Valentin Rongier to contend with.
