OGC Nice have confirmed that Lucien Favre has been sacked as manager of the club. The Swiss manager only rejoined the Ligue 1 club this summer.
Favre succeeded Christophe Galtier, who left to join Ligue 1 rivals Paris Saint-Germain. However, his second spell in charge has been less successful than the first. Although he guided Nice to qualification from their Europa Conference League group, the club currently languish in 11th in the Ligue 1 table following a 2-1 defeat to Stade Rennais. They were also knocked out of the Coupe de France by third-division side Le Puy on Saturday, prompting Nice’s decision to sack Favre.
Since Favre’s arrival, there have also been hierarchical changes, with Florent Ghisolfi coming in as sporting director. He has now been replaced by Didier Digard, who has been with Les Aiglons since 2021. He initially worked with the reserve side before being integrated into Favre’s first-team staff back in November. Nice have announced that former Paris Saint-Germain and Middlesbrough Digard will take charge “until further notice.”
Julien Stéphan, who was also sacked today by Racing club de Strasbourg, has been linked with the managerial role at Nice by RMC Sport.
